From an outsiders perspective, Maternity Leave is a lot like a vacation or at least a staycation. You get time off work, you get to watch a lot of TV... you get time off work. Because of this, it is not uncommon to hear "Enjoy the vacation!" from well-meaning co-workers.
Having been on maternity leave, I identified a lot with Tom Hank's character in the 2000 American epic survival drama film, Cast Away. My daughter played the part of Wilson, the volleyball. It was a lot not like a vacation. And a lot like being deserted on a island, slowly going insane while trying to survive.
Anyway. Let's just say I am passionate about this misconception. And when 72andSunny, gave us the opportunity to do something that supported women around Mother's Day... we decided to take this issue head on by making "Mommy Bahama" - a resort wear line for the vacation your co-workers think you are going on. The tropical collection includes a pumping bra, absorbent mesh underwear, a peri bottle, a C-section recovery belt, and a butt donut.
To show off these fantastic items, we created a video look book, 5 individual fashion films, and MommyBahama.com where you could see the full story. We launched the week before Mother's Day on 72andSunny's Instagram as well as pitching out the story the media outlets.
